Mom's Chicken Cacciatore

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Not too shabby! I'll add my two cents...the other reviewers are right, the secret (in most other recipies too) is in the browning. Dredging the chicken in seasoned flour and browning well really enhances the taste and helps to thicken the sauce later. I added some chili pepper and rosemary to fry with the onions for our liking and threw in a zuccini I had hanging around. Also, try a can of crushed tomatoes next time. It gives it more of a saucy consistency like you cooked it for hours. Enjoy AllRecipers!

Pear Honey

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
This is my second year canning and I'm being much more adventurous. This was a great recipe. It took about four hours on the stove. I also used rock hard pears so first I steamed them then half way through cooking I noticed the pears weren't breaking down so I zipped them in the blender. Great texture. I took another viewers advice and popped in a little candied cherry in the middle. This is my favorite canning recipe thus far I think. Really neat and pretty. Thanks!

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
needed to bake longer then 10 min as cookies were still really soft. I baked for 12min and then they had to set up on the backing pan for another 10 min or so as they would fall apart if you tried to move them before sitting for a bit. I used the same part qhite and part brown sugar as others suggested. Abit on the sweet side. Maybe use less sugar next time. I also added 1/2 c of flour to make the dough more firm. Good recipe for baking with the little people in the family :-) Will make again.

Honey Garlic Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
Wonderful! Got Rave reviews from frieds and family. I used it on a normal tossed salad. The Salad went very fast! I added alot of Garlic and was generous with the honey and used rice vinegar which gave it a nice kick. Will definetly use again.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This is a great alternative for fondant (I don't like the taste of fondant, but this just tastes like buttercream). If you wish to get rid of the "greasy" shine, dust you final product with icing sugar.

Yum! really good and I made extra sauce for the meatloaf once it came out of the oven. Got rave reviews. Had one friend tell me that it was better then her moms meatloaf and her mom is a professional chef! Now thats a compliment!

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
Tasted really good. I had to take them out of the oven at 20min as the top was starting to turn really , really brown! The outside was dry and the centre was really gooey. But they tasted really good. THe bottom was a little dry, not too sure what I did wrong. Tasted kind of flour like. I added lemon zest and lemon juice to both the crust and the filling part. I also used a little yellow food coluring for fun. Husband was a little shocked how "lemony" they were. But I liked them that way and were not tart at all. Will try this recipe again.

Really easy recipe and my family loved it. Even my picky 2 1/2 year old ate it up like she had never eaten before! Will keep in my recipe box for monthly use. Excellent recipe.

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I followed the advice of everyone here, but I only used a Tsp of baking powder. Also, reduced the salt to a pinch, and added about a tsp of vanilla. Still, the base taste of these pancakes leaves something to be desired. I'm still looking for a good base for pancakes; this one wasn't what I was looking for.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2008
I love this recipe! I made this with my daughter and her friend, and they just loved it! We chopped up some fruit and nuts and then put it into the pudding after it was cooled. It was delicious! The only reason I give this 4 stars is because I found the flavor of the cocoa to be very strong. I'm not a big fan of cocoa.
