Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is known for baseball bats, beautiful magnolia trees, the Kentucky Derby, and for being the hometown of Muhammad Ali. Its name pays homage to French King Louis XVI, who assisted the colonists during the American Revolution. Louisville is also the birthplace of several original dishes. Henry Bain sauce, named after its inventor, the head waiter at Louisville's Pendennis Club, is a sweet, tangy, spicy concoction best served with wild game or beef tenderloin. The Hot Brown sandwich was created by the chef of Louisville’s Brown Hotel. It’s an open-faced sandwich topped with turkey, tomato, bacon, and cheese sauce, and then broiled until the cheese sauce turns golden brown. Besides fast horses, the Kentucky Derby is also renowned for popularizing the refreshing mint julep cocktail (made with Kentucky bourbon and fresh mint leaves).

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed on Oct. 12, 2008 by jvfalcon
The chicken was tender but I was expecting a lot more flavor from the thickness of the marinade. My boyfriend really liked it but I thought it was just okay.

Cajun Style Meatloaf

Reviewed on Oct. 11, 2008 by jvfalcon
My boyfriend and I just made this for the first time. We used tabasco and found it a little spicy and next time will try a milder pepper sauce. This is replacing our plain old boring meatloaf. We absolutely love this recipe!

Italian Tomato Pasta Salad

Reviewed on Oct. 8, 2008 by Rachel
I thought the angel pasta was great with the tomatoes, but didn't like the Italian dressing. Next time will just use olive oil instead. Other than that, pretty good.
